couldn’t be more excited to begin a new teaching adventure with the Community Seedlings family. She is a Southern California native, born and raised in Los Angeles. She attended Pitzer College where she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art and Art History. She and her husband moved to Orange County 14 years ago. She has been blessed with 2 amazing children, a son and a daughter ages 12 and 10. Shawn loves spending time on the baseball field with them. She has had the pleasure of teaching Pre-school for the past eight years. She is excited to combine her love of working with children, with her background in Art, to create a nurturing and enriching Reggio Emilia inspired classroom experience. Family and community have always been the cornerstone of Shawn’s life and she looks forward to growing with her new Community Seedlings family.
comes to Community Seedlings Preschool with prior teaching experience within the Reggio Approach. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area she taught at the Mills College Children’s School during undergraduate and graduate school and at Stretch the Imagination. While teaching at both schools Christine learned about the teachings of Reggio Emilia, Italy. She learned the process of observation, documentation, collaboration and how to implement project work alongside children. Christine moved to Orange County two summers ago with her, then boyfriend, now husband. When she is not at school she is with her husband, friends and puppy Mylee exploring all the wonderful things the area has to offer. Christine is very much looking forward to developing the project work and getting to know and grow with the Seedlings children and parents.
Altelarista, or studio art teacher for Community Seedlings Preschool, Manager of the ceramic studio at the Sawdust Art Festival and ceramic teacher for Claytime. Born and raised in California, she studied at Orange County High School of Art as a visual artist, learning photography, figure drawing, jewelry making, art history, oil painting, watercolor, and ceramics. She majored in fine arts at Laguna College of Art and design. Experienced in painting and drawing, and specializes in clay. Loves throwing on the wheel, hand building, pinch pots, using slabs, making coil projects, hump platters, sculpture heads, and abstract forms. She is excited to spread her knowledge of art techniques to children so that they can build on their own creative ideas.
Lisa Cabalda serves as the full time physical education teacher for Community Roots Academy, as well as a part time teacher for Community Seedlings. She has many years experience coaching tennis and working with children. She graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 2010 with her Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology with a focus on education. She is passionate about health and fitness and looks forward to a year filled with great energy, happiness and laughter with the Little Seedlings.
